The Evolution of Piermont: Seen and Unseen
Piermont Village Hall, 478 Piermont Avenue
Presented by: The Piermont Historical Society
For additional information, call (845) 365-0655
On Monday, November 17, 2008 the Piermont Historical Society will provide a rare up-close and personal glimpse of the modern history of the Village of Piermont, including some of its mysteries and best kept secrets. Native son and former Chief of Police Tom Gaynor will describe the evolution of this riverside community as he has experienced it, both as a longtime resident and as the keeper of the village’s peace for more than twenty years. Gaynor not only remembers Piermont’s transition from a brawling factory town into the relatively quiet upscale enclave it has become, he was part of the transformation. Gaynor has promised to make the evening truly memorable by sharing his encyclopedic knowledge of crime in the village – from the legendary incidents he heard about as a child through the present day – including at least one unsolved murder. The first program in the Piermont Historical Society’s 2008-2009 lecture series. Suggested donation is $5.00.
