Pictures of Dinny Price and her charges
Dinny’s relative Dana Bertomen writes, “I have
pictures of Dinny and hundreds of pictures of
the children that Dinny took care of. If any child
or parent that had a child at Dinny’s would like
to see pictures of themselves, they should contact
me “Dana Bertomen” on Facebook. The
pictures are there for all to see.”
The Secret Garden Benefit Performance
On Wednesday, May 23, a performance of The
Secret Garden, a much-loved children’s book by
Frances Hodgson Burnett, will be given for the
benefit of the Palisades Presbyterian Church at
the Elmwood Playhouse, 10 Park Street, Nyack,
at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased
by contacting Mary Ann Garland at 845-359-
3288 or on Sundays after worship.
Longtime Red Cross volunteer Nanci Hodas of Palisades has been awarded the Clara Barton Award, the highest honor for a Greater NY Red Cross volunteer. Hodash received the award at the 2011 Volunteer Recognition Event and Awards Ceremony held in Manhattan on Dec. 1, 2011. During Hurricane Irene, Nanci Hodash was Red Cross Government Liaison in the Rockland County Emergency Operations Center, was an emergency shelter supervisor and feeding coordinator supporting four Rockland County shelters.

Palisades photographer Rodney Smith is on the
cover of Time Magazine’s April 12 issue.
Blue Rock School presents the “Historic Palisades- Snedens Landing House Tour” on Saturday, May 12 from 10am to 4pm with a reception to follow from 3:30 to 5:30pm. The tour includes the Caroline Heider House, the Adams “Block” House and the Henry Dobbs House, among others. Tickets are $35 in advance and available at www.bluerockschool.org, and $40 the day of the tour at two locations, one of them the Palisades Community Center. Admission to the reception is included in the ticket price and will include wine and hors d’oeuvres.

Weleda Leaving Palisades for Irvington, N.Y.
Weleda has announced that it will be moving its
headquarters from Palisades to Irvington, N.Y.
by midsummer. The new space will only accommodate
administrative functions. The company
is considering opening a New York City spa
and retail store some time in the future. Weleda
products are available at Organica in Northdale,
N.J.; Back to Earth in Nyack; Target, Whole
Foods and online.
Julia Balm, 14 year-old daughter of Michele and Neil Balm of Iroquios Ave, was accepted to Boston Ballet School’s Summer Dance Program. Julia was chosen from more than 2,400 students from U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia. The Boston Ballet Summer Dance Program is an intensive training program in classical ballet designed for aspiring pre-professional students.
Annual School Budget Vote and Board Member Election will be held on Tuesday, May 15th, 7:00am-9:00pm. Palisades residents vote at Tappan Zee Elementary on Route 9W. The 2012- 2013 Preliminary Budget is $82,385,278. For detailed Budget information, visit the school district website at www.socsd.org
