Car Theft on Washington Spring Road
On the evening of October 22 or early morning on the 23rd, a car was stolen from the driveway of Marjorie Galen’s home on Washington Spring Road. Orangetown Police Chief Nulty says, “While there has not been a rash of car thefts in the area, there is always a market for higher end cars. I would like to remind people to lock their cars and remove a duplicate key from inside. Park near a light or one with a motion sensor.”

David Englander described some alternative solutions for the cemetery’s problems. Alice Gerard and Carol Knudson, whose father has been helping with the maintenance for many years, also spoke to the group. Several of those present volunteered to serve on a committee that would examine the alternatives in depth.

Money & Medicine Documentary
Kudos to filmmaker Roger Weisburg for his informative documentary, which aired on PBS late September. Roger once again addresses concerns about unnecessary costs in healthcare. MONEY & MEDICINE compares two respected hospitals and the treatments that drive considerably higher costs at one of them.

Joan Konner's New Book
Joan Konner’s new book, THE BOOK OF I, An Illustrious Collection of Self-reflections, explores the search for a definition of the self in literary and cultural history. “The pursuit of identity can be found throughout all ages in philosophy, literature, poetry and more. The collection speaks of and to the practical self, the person whom others recognize when they meet you on the street,” she writes. The Book of I echoes the tone of Konner’s two previous quote collections, *The Atheist’s Bible, a national bestseller, and You Don’t Have to Be Buddhist to Know Nothing*. Together the three books form The Sound Bite Library, each offering insight into a profound idea, a bouquet of pithy, amusing, informative and often elegant writing from history’s luminaries and popular icons. The Book of I is published by Lantern Books and is available on-line at Amazon and Barnes and Noble and selected bookstores.

Available to order through Amazon or via the author’s website www.gretanettleton.com in soft-cover print version, with 130 photographs and images (for $19.95) and through Amazon/Kindle as an e-book ($8.99) starting November 1, 2012.
