Beginning May 8 Sculptor Cristina Biaggi's Work on View at Garner Art Center
Cristina Biaggi's THE WEB (a 45 feet in diameter double-sided collage on cloth installed between trees) and THE NEST (a large human-sized nest made with vines) will be on view at Garner Art Center in Garnerville, N.Y. beginning May 8 and through September. In conjunction with the installations, several artists talks and workshops are planned throughout the summer.

May 21 School Budget Vote The South Orangetown Central School District's annual school budget vote and Board of Education elections will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 7:00 am to 9 pm at the Tappan Zee Education Center (formerly Tappan Zee Elementary School) located at 561 Route 9W in Piermont, for Palisades residents. The proposed 2024-25 school budget totals $110,595,035 and reflects a 1.63 percent budget-to-budget increase and a 1.5 percent tax levy increase. An Adopted Budget Public Hearing will take place on Tuesday, May 14 at 7:30 pm in the South Orangetown Middle School Library, 160 Van Wyck Rd, Blauvelt. Olympian Charlotte Buck
If you plan to watch the Paris Olympics, July 26 to August 11, keep an eye out for Nyack resident Charlotte Buck. She will be one of eight rowers competing for the U.S. in the 2000 meter “Eights” rowing race. Charlotte has trained for the last three years after competing in the 2020 Olympics (held in 2021 because of Covid.) The U.S. team finished fourth, 2.5 seconds behind China. They are out to redeem themselves this year with dreams of returning home with gold medals in hand.
Study: Shared Use Path for Motorists and Cyclists Along Route 9W
The New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) in partnership with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) and a dozen other agencies, is exploring the feasibility of creating a shared-use path (cars, pedestrians, and cyclists) connecting the George Washington and Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridges. Affected regions include Fort Lee, Englewood Cliffs, Tenafly, Alpine, and Rockland County. Two community workshops will be held in May (date to be announced). A draft of the study will be presented in the fall of 2024 followed by public review meetings. The final study
