May 17 Annual Budget Vote and Board Election:

Palisades residents vote at the Tappan Zee Elementary School on Rte. 9W, 7:00am-9:00pm. New Roof on Palisades Elementary Building Since 2000, the failing roofs of the District buildings have been of concern and a discussion item. In March of 2010, the School Board commissioned a study of all the roofs and it was not a surprise that they were long over-due to be replaced. Palisades Elementary (Fred Keller School) is one of seven District buildings needing a new roof. The new roofs will have a life of about 30 years and since they are under warranty, there will be no associated long-term maintenance costs. The roof project, which will cost about $9 million, was approved by the South Orangetown voters on November 16, 2010. The Palisades building is scheduled to have its roof replaced the summer of 2011.
