March Palisades Community Center News

We’ve had a busy winter and are looking forward to spring so we can get back to making critical repairs. We are grateful to those who made financial donations and thank the following people who generously lent us a hand: Cellen Wolk who donated and planted dozens of daffodils, Robert Adzema for building a basement door at a discount, Larry Bucciarelli for donating driveway plows, Ed at Arbor Hill who donated a percentage of Christmas tree sales, Michael and Michelle Schwartz for donating Christmas trees to sell, Susan Nemesdy and Neil Balm for lending a hand and David Wolk for graphic art. A sincere thanks to Reddi-Alarm Fire Systems who installed a fire system quickly and at no cost. They were efficient and a pleasure to work with.

Palisades Indoor Farmers’ Market

Every Saturday, 9:00 am-1:00 pm

The Palisades Community Center is pleased to sponsor Rockland’s first indoor winter farmers’ market. Opening day, February 7, was a great success. Although fields are dormant, there is an abundance of regionally grown agricultural products - root vegetables, greenhouse chicken and meat products, eggs, apples, cider, maple syrup, cheese, jams, not to mention baked goods, pickles, nuts and soups. Locally roasted Free Trade coffee is available by the bag or enjoy a cup in a Jane Herold mug and pastry at one of our cafe tables. We will add weekly “guests” such as the Soap & Paper Factory selling hand-made soaps and candles. Watch for our spring bulb sale in March.

Thanks to Lewis Hahn for designing our flyers and postcards and to Marika Hahn for lending us her delicious artwork. Teen volunteers are needed to help clean up from 1:00-2:00 pm and to help load in at 7:30-8:30 am or load out 1:00-2:00 pm. Community service certificates given.
