In Our Neighborhood: Natural Organic Skin Spa

Recently my friend Kam told me about Natural Organic Skin Spa. It’s nearby on the south side of Oak Tree Road just past Route 303 next to the barber shop. It is owned by Julie Lee. She is an esthetician with 20 years experience having trained at the Manhattan School of Esthetics.

I used to get a facial once-in-a-while but due to an economic reversal (broke) and the pandemic (scared) I stopped. I wear worry on my face. I can’t help it. Often when I catch sight of myself in the mirror my first thought is, “Mother of God, I look like a Jack o’ Lantern left out 6 weeks after Halloween.” Then I came across Julie Lee.

In 2019 she happened by the tiny space on Oak Tree Road and spied a “for rent” sign in the window. Julie opened her business just before the pandemic. At that time, she had a couple of employees. After the shutdown Julie decided to work alone and see a single client in the shop. That is how she survived economically and how her business thrives now. Each client has a dedicated time. It’s you and Julie. No TVs blaring cooking shows or long rows of people getting pedicures. Julie puts on her reading glasses and will give your skin a hard look. I’ve had facials and a massage there and while I’m no expert, both services were excellent.

She is skilled and patient. It’s a serene experience and if you’re in need of a small indulgence after vacuuming out the silverware drawer or putting masking tape on your face to see how a facelift might look—well, perhaps, Julie can help.
