Palisades Community Center, May 2009

We are increasing our offerings at the community center and welcome new programs. At our Annual Earth Day Tag sale this year, we joined up with Keep Rockland Beautiful and had clean-up supplies available for the community to clean-up their neighborhoods. We thank those who recycled their items wth us and the volunteers who helped with this event.

In March, we spruced up our bathroom, which was in dire need of improvement! Kudos to Susan Nemesdy for taking on this project for us. We also thank Larry Bucciarelli for maintaining our driveway this winter and repairing it this spring. We have much to do inside the building and appreciate any volunteer or financial donations.

Solar Feedback signs on Oak Tree Road
Over the year, improvements have been made to “calm traffic” on Oak Tree Road. The blinking light was re-installed at Closter Road, pedestrian walkways were painted, a stand-up sign was put in front of the post office, and we have traffic police sporadically monitoring traffic. The latest installation was two solar feedback signs that display speed over 25 m.p.h. near RT 9W and the other near Swan Street. The speed limit on Oak Tree Road is 30 m.p.h. and 15 m.p.h. in front of the Keller school. We thank Superintendent of Highways Jim Dean, Police Chief McNulty and Councilmember Nancy Low-Hogan, Traffic Advisory Guy DeVincenzo for their efforts to effect these changes. The next thing we are anxious for is the installation of a sidewalk on Oak Tree Road west of RT 9W.
