Palisades Community Center - October 2007

The last event before the summer hiatus was the Community Center’s Family BBQ Fund-raiser which was a great Palisades family affair. Those attending participated in many activities such as learning how to square dance, a whip cream pie eating contest, a real pie contest for both adults and kids, as well as tug-of-war and water balloon activities, to name just a few. The rain was a bit cumbersome but did not dampen the spirit of those witnessing the unveiling of the Palisades Community Center sign so generously donated by fellow Palisadian, Henry Ottley.

Tons of BBQ foods were available and even more raffle prizes were given out. We thank all of you who attended as well as those who so generously gave of their time to find the raffle prizes and helped coordinate the event.

As the fall approaches, the Board is actively pursuing ways to bring more interesting programs to the community. The search is on to find active Palisadians with a passion for programming special events in order to be part of a Programming Committee. Ideas such as kid film nights, music jams for teenagers, adult enrichment programs, chess competitions, craft and game nights, knitting and needlepoint clubs, book/bridge clubs, and numerous others have been part of our discussions but need a cluster of individuals who are interested in making the Center a hub of activity. Individuals who would rather participate in moving the Restoration Campaign up to the next level or those gardeners amongst us who can give a few hours a month to help maintain the Center’s grounds, are also sought.
