South Orangetown Day Stop by and see the Mighty five Libraries of South Orangetown for a day of fun and entertainment at this year’s Fifth Annual South Orange- town Day. This event will be held on the Tappan Manse Lawn. Saturday, October 19, 11:00am - 6:00pm

ADULT PROGRAMS Pollinator Pathways Learn about the principles and design of pollinator pathways with Master Beekeeper Dana Harkrider, founding member of the Nyack Pollinator Pathway. Come explore the benefits of planting native plants, pollinator-friendly plants and trees, how public land can be used, and how we can all contribute! Registration required. Monday, October 7 at 7:00pm

The Artist's Way Workshop: Walking in This World Whether you create art to live or simply wish to live more creatively, find your motivation while we explore Walking in this World: The Practical Art of Creativity by Julia Cameron during this 6-week workshop (no meeting 11/27). A great program for those who have attended sessions of The Artist’s Way Workshop in the past and a great opportunity for those who are new to the course to join. Space is limited. Halloween A Haunted History A part of Coffee Talk, the Library’s daytime programming series. Explore the strange history of Halloween, from Old World harvest festivals to our modern family holiday with author, photographer and lecturer Kevin Woyce. With orig- inal photographs and vintage images, Kevin reveals the origins of the Jack o’Lantern and other traditions; tells the stories behind the 1938 “War of the Worlds” radio broadcast and the first monster movies; and takes audiences on a tour of haunted lighthouses and hotels. Coffee and tea will be served. Registration required. Monday, October 28 at 2:00pm

Gentle Yoga This class will include meditation, breathing exercises, and overall attention to, and focus on, the body and mind. Practitioners will be guided through gentle movements while seated, standing, and lying down. The class suits all body types and ranges of movement. Instructor: Laura Zaino. Please bring your own yoga mat if you have one. Registration required. Space is limited to 10 participants. Friday, October 11 at 11:00am

Chair Yoga This one hour class will include pranayama (breath work), guided meditation, and/or mindfulness practice as well as gentle arm and leg movements while seated, opening up the joints and activating the muscles. A portion of the class will be spent standing, using a chair as a prop, for safety and balance. The class suits all body types and ranges of movement. Instructor Laura Zaino. Registration required. Esplanade Book Club A librarian-led book discussion meeting every month at The Esplanade at Palisades. Contact the library for this month’s book selection. Friday, October 18 at 11:30am

Open Play Mah Jongg Advanced beginners and experienced players welcome for casual, non-competitive play. No instruction is provided. Tuesdays in October, 11:00am to 1:00pm

Open Play Canasta All players welcome for casual, non-competitive play. No instruction is provided. Wednesdays in October, 12:30pm to 3:30pm

Halloween Movie Night Come to the Library for a Halloween movie and snacks. Tuesday, October 29 at 6:00pm

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS
Baby Story Time Lap sit program with Kate. Nursery rhymes, short, simple stories, songs, and bubbles. A great way to spend special time with your baby and to meet other new parents. Ages 3 - 18 months with adult caregiver. Fridays, October 4 and October 18 at 11:00am

Guesstimation Station Stop by the Library’s front desk, guess the number of candy corns in the jar, and win the jar of candy corn, plus a bonus surprise! Open to children of all ages.
