HOURS Masks must be worn at all times in the building. Open Monday through Thursday, 11:00 am - 8:00 pm, Friday and Saturday from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm and Sun- day from 1:00 - 5:00 pm. Closed Monday, October 11 for Columbus Day.

Second Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest for All Ages
Pumpkin pickup October 18 - 24; photo submissions due by October 26; voting taking place October 27 - 28. Decorate your pumpkin to represent a book character, title, author, quote, or cover! You may use any craft sup- plies to decorate your pumpkin. Register to pick up your free pumpkin (up to 2 per household; South Orangetown residents only).

The Great Give Back: TerraCycle Your Personal Care Products
From October 16 - April 22 the Library will collect Colgate, Gillette and Nordstrom products for recycling through the TerraCycle program. Complete details avail- able on our website.

The Great Giveback: Rail Trail Cleanup for All Ages
Sunday, October 17, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Participate in the Great Giveback as the library teams up with Keep Rockland Beautiful to pick up trash from the Rail Trail. Meet at the Oak Tree Road trail head and clean up along the trail to Memorial Park in Sparkill. Supplies provided. Teens earn up to 3 community service hours.

ADULT PROGRAMS

Embroidered Rainbow Take-and-Make Craft for Adults and Teens
Available beginning October 8 while supplies last. Embroider a colorful rainbow with an encouraging message. All materials provided to registrants.

Palisades History Two Truths and a Lie Game
Date TBD. How well do you know your Palisades history? Guess which things really happened here in Palisades and which things we made up.

Gentle Yoga and Chair Yoga
Laura Zaino, certified yoga instructor. New YouTube videos emailed every Friday. Classes are perfect for beginners and suit all body types and ranges of movement.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES

Storytime at the Park
Thursdays in October (weather permitting), 10:30 am -11:00 am
Join Kate for stories, songs and more at the Playground in Sparkill.

Kusama Family Art
Drop in on Saturday, October 2 and Sunday, October 3 Make whimsical art inspired by the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, the Princess of Polka Dots. Kusama’s work is now on display at the New York Botanical Garden. For all ages.

Guided Hike in Tallman Mountain State Park
Saturday, October 2, 8:45 am - 11:00 am. Hike leaders depart promptly at 9:00 am.
Cornell Cooperative Extension volunteer Jeff Solomon leads a 2-hour hike through Tallman Mountain State Park. Learn about plants and animals both native and invasive.

Hide, Seek, Chomp: A Virtual Aquarium Tour
Monday, October 11, 10:30 am - 11:20 am
Discover the wonders of life in the ocean depths. Learn about sharks, octopuses and jellies while discussing food chains. For ages 6 - 10.

Take-and-Make Yarn Monster Craft
Available beginning October 14 while supplies last. Chil-dren practice a variety of skills - wrapping yarn, coloring, cutting, and sticking - while creating a silly monster. For ages 3+.

Youth Gardening Club: Compost
Thursday, October 14, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Learn how to put the garden to bed for the season and collect the library’s leaves for composting. For ages 8 -18. An hour of community service available to participants who request it.

This Bank Street College Best Children's Book of the Year Selection for 2021 tells the adventures of a young witch discovering her powers. Copies of the book will be available to borrow at the library beginning October 1. For ages 7 - 12.

Take-and-Make Whimsical Ghost Windsock
Available Thursday, October 28. Create a ghost windsock for Halloween! For ages 3+.

Creepy Creatures with Eyes of the Wild!
Thursday, October 28, 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Get ready for Halloween by meeting creepy, crawly and slimy critters up close! Sponsored by the Mighty Five South Orangetown Libraries. Held in person at the Tappan Manse Barn. Please register everyone in your group who will be attending to ensure social distancing. Ages 5+.
