Palisades (People) Sunday Symposium
The IBM Palisades Executive Conference Center played host once again to the Palisades Free Library's Sunday Symposia on November 14th. The program was titled "Rockland Writers: The Art of the Short Story" and featured Dorothy Salisbury Davis's Dies Irae and David Means's The Knocking.
Actress Annabella Sciorra read Davis' tale of sisterly jealousy and murder in Prohibition-era America and actor Darrell Larson enlisted local musicians Ike Kitman and Walker Tovin to provide percussive effects during his reading of Means's story of fury and frustration over a noisy overhead neighbor and a failed marriage. Due to time constraints, a third story, The Tree Line, Kansas, 1934 by Means, was not read, but there was a welcome cash bar and an ample selection of books by Davis and Means available for purchase.
