PALISADES PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH NEWS - MAY 2008

Midnight Run – Friday May 23rd 10:00 pm.

The church will participate in a Midnight Run on Friday, May 23rd; this is part of our mission outreach - touching the lives of some of the homeless people who live on the cold streets of Manhattan. We bring food, clothing and toiletries to designated locations around the city. Midnight Run is a volunteer organization dedicated to finding common ground between the housed and the homeless. Our local Hudson Presbytery is one of several Presbyteries that support this organization, and many other churches, synagogues and schools contribute as well to these midnight missions that take place every night of the year.

We provide lunches for 100 people and are also in need of personal care items (disposable razors, soaps, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo) and clothing (particularly men's T-shirts, socks, underwear, pants and shoes). There will be sign-up sheets in the Parish House through out the month. Volunteers are needed to sort items on Thursday May 22nd, as well as participating in the Run itself. We usually start out by 10pm and return to the church by 3am. It is an incredibly humbling and heartwarming experience to come on a Run. All are welcome to support this effort. Please call Sue Webb at 845-353-1836 for more information.
