Route 9W Safety Improvements Update

Great news! At an April 11 meeting with the NYS Department of Transportation and Assembly member Ellen Jaffee, we were informed that our requested safety improvements to the Route 9W/Oak Tree Road intersection have been approved.
Jaffee secured $650,000 for replacement of the out-dated traffic poles, a new advanced green left-turn traffic light, pedestrian push buttons and curbing for the excessively wide SW and SE corners. Reducing the speed limit is in the queue for a decision. Additional funding is needed to install a sidewalk along the east side of Route 9W (from the intersection to Tallman Mountain Trailhead).
