Katie Elevitch Opens Art Gallery
Former Palisades resident Katie Elevitch has opened up 95 1/2 Main, an Art Gallery and Arts Event and Workshop Space in the heart of downtown Nyack.. The next group exhibit opens Friday December 1st, and is titled "Quiet and Noise: Peace in Painful Times" and will feature local Rockland County artists. Also in December: Katie will perform an intimate concert of original music to launch the space's new music and performance series “The Listening Room” on Thursday Dec. 7, 7:00-9:00 pm. Proceeds from this concert will benefit 95 1/2 Main's arts programs and exhibitions.

Strawberry Festival
Saturday, June 11, is the date for this year’s Old Fashioned Strawberry Festival at the Palisades Presbyterian Church. The Festival runs from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, rain or shine, on the Church grounds. Enjoy strawberry smoothies, lemonade, and of course the famous strawberry shortcake (with homemade whipped cream) while having fun with neighbors and friends. Face painting and other children’s activities make this a great family outing too. The Palisades Presbyterian Church invites you to attend a professional reading of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, the classic novel about a Victorian-era miser taken on a journey of self-redemption, on Sunday, December 16, at 5:00 pm. This early evening hour was chosen so that families with elementary school-aged children could attend and, for some, be introduced to Dickens for the first time.

Harvest Festival
Palisades Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 13 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The Festival will feature the sale of homemade soups, bread, pies, cakes and pastries. There will be a silent auction of goods and services. We will offer pumpkin decoration for children as well as face painting. Come and have a great time and benefit the programs of the Church.

In 1964, shortly after the Parish House was built, Edith and Jack Ryan organized a pancake breakfast for the Palisades Presbyterian Church as a fundraiser. Two years later in 1966, Bob Rasmussen, Donald Finck and Michael Shapiro joined them with Fred Griffing coming aboard soon after. When Jack Ryan passed away, Bob Rasmussen assumed the responsibility for organizing the breakfast. This past May, Bob, Donald and Michael celebrated their 46th year of pancake making. Rounding out the group are John Guzewich who started around 2002 and Jim Rubenstone, the newcomer, who joined in 2009.

The Palisades Church Jr. Players will be performing Jonah and the Whale, written and directed by Diana Green, on May 20th during the 10:00 service and all are welcome.

Christmas Schedule
Only one service will be offered on Christmas Eve this year
The Palisades Presbyterian Church, in a break with tradition, will offer only one service this Christmas Eve at 6:00 pm, Saturday, December 24. There will be Lessons and Carols as well as a collection and presentation of gifts for hospitalized children in Harlem. Please wrap all gifts and indicate whether appropriate for girls or boys and, if applicable, an age range.
