RCJBS Is Keeping Jazz and Blues Alive

The Rockland County Jazz and Blues Society is a non-profit arts organization whose mission is to promote jazz, blues, and music ranging from Dixieland to Brazilian Jazz and Samba.

Lead by Board president Richard Sussman, himself a jazz pianist, composer, and educator, RCJBS evolved out of the Jazz Committee of Riverspace Arts Center in 2008. It celebrates local musicians through concerts, jam sessions and educational events.

RCJBS organizes the annual festival known as Nyack Jazz Week featuring live music every night at venues throughout Rockland County. They sponsor Jazz Jam at the Turning Point in Piermont on Monday nights and Wednesday Night Jazz at the ‘76 House in Tappan.

Two years ago the group formed a partnership with the Union Arts Center in Sparkill to offer a Jazz Concert Series.
